The Steinhardt Museum of Natural History, Tel Aviv university- proposal

The Steinhardt Museum of Natural History will house the various natural history collections of the university, along with exhibition spaces, labs, classrooms, offices and an auditorium. Three masses are connected by a large, overhanging roof which creates the lobby and exhibition areas. The ground floor draws in the adjacent botanical garden right through the day-lit lobby, while exhibits may be seen by taking a walking tour at the upper levels of the lobby. The east elevation faces Israel’s main traffic artery and was designed to express the building’s unique function. Special attention was given to the building’s sustainability, including positioning, shading, natural daylight and natural ventilation, water efficiency, a green roof and a robust PV array.
