Educational Buildings, Sri Lanka, 1964-1966

Starting in India and Sri Lanka in the 1960’s together with his Sri Lankan partner, Ulrik Plesner built:

A Boys Town for the de la Salle Organization in Madurai South India, a boarding school for orphan boys. Where they learn reading and writing, how to live in society and also acquire a professional survival ability, such as bicycle and radio repair skills.

A Montessori School for Girls in Colombo run by the Good Shepherd Nuns.
St.Thomas Primary School in Colombo. Private fee-charging school.
Bishops College, girls’ school extension, Colombo.
The above schools are designed for the hot-humid tropics with large overhanging roofs protecting against rain and sun, fully open for the natural breeze to sweep through and surrounded by rich tropical planting.
